In spring 2010, Bonheur joined Adeline Canac. Bonheur and Canac won the Master’s de Patinage 2010 together. It was reported in July 2011 that Bonheur and Canac had separated.

From 2002 to 2007, Bonheur competed alongside Marylin Pla. They were awarded the French National Championships three more times, and they placed 14th at 2006 Winter Olympics. They missed the Grand Prix series in 2006-2007 due to Bonheur’s injury to his hand while performing the triple twist. This required surgery.

In December 2007, Bonheur joined forces with Vanessa James, a British figure skater. They started competing internationally together in 2008. James / Bonheur competed together at the 2008 Trophee Eric Bompard Grand Prix, where they were 7th. They were 10th at 2009 European Figure Skating Championships, and 12th at 2009 World Figure Skating Championships. They placed 6th at 2009 Nebelhorn Trophy and 8th at 2009 Cup of China. They placed second in the short program at the French Figure Skating Championships 2010 and won the overall title by free skating. They were therefore sent to the Olympics and Worlds where they placed 14th and 12th respectively. Bonheur and James were the first black couple to compete in the Olympics. After the 2009-2010 season, they ended their partnership.
