Werner Hoeger is one of the most popular and richest University Teacher who was born on December 15, 1953 in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico. Werner Walter Karl Hoeger (born on the 15th of December 1953 in Merida) is an ex-luge athlete who played for Venezuela in the 2002 Winter Olympics and the 2006 Winter Olympics. His son is Chris Hoeger. He is an emeritus professor (active) in exercise science in Boise State University and author of nine various “fitness & wellness” textbooks. He has written 65 editions of these textbooks. He is among the most popular writers on wellness and fitness throughout the United States. The first writer to create an academic-level fitness guideline to include the wellness concept through publishing Lifetime Physical Fitness & Wellness The Personalized Fitness program in the year 1986 (now in the 15th edition published by Wadsworth/Cengage Learning 2017). The title Fitness & Wellness (Wadsworth/Cengage Learning 2014 edition) is a brief guide for courses in introductory levels and for the general population that offers the guidelines to improve overall health and well-being through a comprehensive fitness wellness program. He is an Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and is also a member part of the Research Consortium of AAHPERD (now SHAPE America). In his youth, he was a gymnast He later began the sport of luge. He took part both Olympic Winter Games (2002 and 2006). After his Olympic participation, he switched his attention to racing track and field, participating at three World Masters Track and Field Championships (2011 2013, 2016 and the 2018).

Hoeger took up Luge as a sport just five weeks prior to his 45th birthday. In the two Winter Olympics, Hoeger earned his best result of 32nd place in the singles men’s event in Turin in 2006. At the age of 52, he represented his home nation of Venezuela in the year 2006. In their sole participation at the tournament, he was the only one to carry their flag during the Parade of Nations. He was the longest-running athlete at the games. In his participation in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and competing with his son Christopher and his son Christopher, they became the sole father and son to participate in the same event at the Olympic Winter Games.

Hoeger’s highest performance in Hoeger’s best result at FIL World Luge Championships came in 38th place at the singles competition for men at Nagano in 2004.

Hoeger is a native of and was raised in Merida, Venezuela. His Olympic goals began during his participation in the 1988 Summer Olympic Games in Mexico City. At the age of 16 he was selected for his debut on the national Venezuelan Gymnastics team . He was unbeaten as the national all-around champion, until he retired in 1976. He was the winner of 34 out of 36 national individual titles in the period of six years. The fall of 1970 the university contacted him to join Brigham Young University and competed there for four years. He was hoping to be a part of his 1972 Munich or 1976 Montreal Summer Olympic Games. Being the sole athlete to have a the chance of qualifying for his country of birth, Venezuela He was not allowed to test out for the competition. He waited 34 years before he could participate at the Olympic Games. In 2011, he participated during the World Masters Athletics (Track and Field) Championships in Sacramento, California, USA. He competed at the 1,500, 800 and 5,000 meters events. In 2015, he placed second in the mile event at the USA Track and Field (USATF) Masters Indoors National Championships and finished fourth and third in the 800 1500 m and 1,500 m events during the USA National Senior Games. In the months of October and November 2016, he advanced to the finals of both of these events in the World Masters Athletics Championships held in Perth, Australia and finished 7th (12 finalist) for the 800m race and 8th (16 finalist) at 1500 meters. He was awarded All-American honors from USATF in the years 2012 and 2014, as well as 2015 and in 2016.

Werner Hoeger received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and a master’s diploma from Brigham Young University in Exercise Science at Brigham Young University at the young age of 20. In 1978, when he was the age of 24, Hoeger earned his Ed.D. in exercise physiology at Brigham Young University. He was a professor on the University of Los Andes in Merida, Venezuela from 1978 until 1982. He also taught at and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa from 1983 until 1986. He was also the Tech Director in fitness Monitoring within Rolling Meadows, Illinois from 1982 until 1983. He was a part of Boise State University in 1986 and left the university in 2009. The professor also taught a period in 2013 and 2012 and in 2016 in the college of Brigham Young University Hawaii.
