The following season, Graziani was the top scorer for the club in Serie A with a tally of 21 goals. He was part of, during the era of his time, the famous team known as Gemelli of the”gol” (“Goal twins”) along with his partner Paolo Pulici. He played a role in helping Torino to reach their first Coppa Italia semifinal in the year 1980 however, he was among the players to fail to make his penalty count during the shoot-out that resulted in the team’s loss in the shoot-out to Roma on the Stadio the Olimpico in Rome.
At international level, he won the 1982 FIFA World Cup with the Italian national team, and also managed fourth-place finishes at the 1978 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 1980. With 23 official goals, he is the ninth-highest all- time scorer for the Italian national team (tied with Christian Vieri).
Graziani also played a key role in Italy’s victorious 1982 FIFA World Cup campaign: he scored one goal in the 1982 FIFA World Cup in a 1–1 draw against Cameroon, which proved to be decisive for the Azzurri’s qualification to the knockout phase, who advanced on number of goals scored, at the expense of the African team; this was Graziani’s final goal for Italy. Graziani appeared in all of Italy’s matches as the nation went on to win the tournament for the third time in their history. In the final against West Germany, however, he was forced off in the seventh minute of play after sustaining an injury, and was replaced by Alessandro Altobelli; Italy won the match 3–1 to claim the title. Graziani’s final official appearance for Italy came on 29 May 1983, in a 2–0 away defeat to Sweden in a UEFA Euro 1984 qualifying match.
Graziani was also a key international player as a representative of Italy and the Azzurri in the 1978 FIFA World Cup, as a second choice behind Paolo Rossi, where they ended up finishing fourth in the following year, and then in the 1980 European Championship on home soil and made four appearances, scoring one in the process, when Italy was fourth in the same tournament, despite reaching the semi-finals. The first time he played for the national team was on April 19, 1975, in a 0-0 draw at Rome against Poland He made his debut goal in Italy on April 7, 1976 in an away win of 3-1 against Portugal.

He scored 122 goals over 289 games played for Torino and was split as follows 221 games (97 goal) within the League and the 45 games (17 goal) during the Coppa Italia, and 22 appearances (8 goal) in European competitions. He was awarded the Scudetto in 1975 and 1976.
