Turk Schonert Biography

Turk Schonert is one of the most popular and richest Coach who was born on January 15, 1957 in Torrance, California, United States. Turk Leroy Schonert (January 15 1957 – January 17 2019,) played as a player and quarterbacks coach as well as offensive coordinator for the National Football League. Schonert served as the coach for the UFL’s Sacramento Mountain Lions in 2012.

Schonert returned to Buffalo with the Bills as offensive coordinator back in the year 2006, and then promoted in 2008. was a close collaborator alongside Trent Edwards, a graduate of his alma mater since Buffalo hired his Stanford quarterback on the 2007 roster. Schonert was dismissed as offensive coordinator for Buffalo Bills the 4th of September, 2009 shortly before the beginning of the season. He was changed to Alex Van Pelt.

Schonert’s duties as offensive consultant in Montreal included helping Alouettes QB Troy Smith, who struggled with accuracy and production early in the 2014 season. He was subsequently promoted to receivers coach in August 2014.

Schonert died on January 17, 2019 of an apparent heart attack; just two days after his 62nd birthday.

Schonert started coaching quarterbacks in 1992 for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers under Sam Wyche the former head coach at the Bengals. The head coach for quarterbacks in Stanford, Jim Fassel, later was named chief coach for the New York Giants and hired Schonert who was also a coach as his former teams, the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers and the New Orleans Saints.

Schonert was an double-time All-American player at Servite High School in Anaheim, California. He also took part at the 1967 Little League World Series as third baseman and shortstop.

Schonert was chosen for the Chicago Bears in the ninth round of the 1980 NFL Draft but never played for the team. He spent nine years with the Cincinnati Bengals, including the Super Bowl XVI and Super Bowl XXIII teams. between his time with the Bengals also played all of his time with Atlanta Falcons. He was then hired by Fassel as an offensive assistant for the UFL’s Las Vegas Locomotives.
