Tommy Conwell (Thomas Edward Conwell) (born 14 January 1962) is an American musician, songwriter, and performer. Conwell is most well-known as the frontman of the band from Philadelphia, Tommy Conwell & The Young Rumblers. The group scored a #1 US mainstream rock chart hit the year 1988 when they released “I’m Not Your Man” It also peaked at 74 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart. The band’s original lineup, comprised from Tommy Conwell (guitar, vocals), Paul Slivka (stand-up bass) and Jimmy Hannum (drums), was famous for its energetic live shows that included a variety of classic blues and rock classics. like “Hideaway” by Freddie King, “Rumble” by Link Wray, “Time Has Come Today” by The Chambers Brothers and “Downtown Train” by Tom Waits, together with several original tracks that were included on the album that was their debut”Walkin on the Water. Other songs that stand out as signatures, like “Demolition Derby”, which some believed exemplified the raw sound of the trio and was subsequently dropped due to the evolution of the sound of the band following the introduction of two new members, keyboardist Rob Miller and Chris Day playing guitar.
