Todd Watkins (born June 22 1983) is an ex- American player and football receiver. He was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played for the college team of Brigham Young University.
Watkins moved from Brigham Young University in 2004 and was immediately offered an opportunity to play wide receiver. BYU started its 2004 campaign against Notre Dame, and Watkins immediately made an impact. His first catch in his first game as an Cougar was a stunning 50-yard catch in double coverage. The play led to an important touchdown on the team’s first play in the contest. In the final quarter the contest, Watkins made a spectacular 37-yard catch (despite passing interference from the defense) The catch was an important 1st down goal for BYU and secured the Cougars winning 20-17 against the Irish.
In September 2007, he was added to the Atlanta Falcons practice squad after being cut by the Arizona Cardinals following week 4 of preseason.
In the 2008 off-season, the Oakland Raiders claimed him off waivers. Watkins was released in September 2010.
In his sophomore season in Grossmont, Watkins elevated his performance as receiver. Watkins caught 40 balls, netting 915 yards with 8 touchdowns. He helped lead the Griffins to a 13-1 mark as well as winning the Foothill Valley Conference championship. As a placekicker, he scored twelve of fifteen field goal attempts and more than 50 PAT kicks. He scored the score of 134 (combined receiving and kicks)which is the highest score within the Conference. His name was selected as Region III Offensive Player of the Year for 2003 . He also was awarded First Team All-American honors by JC Gridwire and Junior College Athletic Bureau.

Watkins is a multi-sport athlete during his time at Helix High School in La Mesa, California. He played soccer, volleyball, football and track. He was the first person in over 25 years to accomplish this accomplishment in Helix High. As a footballer He was awarded all-county honours in his senior and junior seasons. The team he played with included the current NFL players Reggie Bush and Alex Smith and the team won in 2000 the San Diego Section Division II CIF Football championship. Watkins is enrolled in Norfolk State but redshirted during the 2001 season. He then transferred onto Grossmont (California) Junior College and participated in ten games during the season of 2002. Being a wide-receiver He finished the season with 11 receptions, 4 touchdowns and 299 yards. But his most significant contribution to the team was as a placekicker. He scored 10-of-11 field goals , and 47 of the 49 kicks that he made.
After finishing his college career, Watkins pursued a career in professional football. For many NFL teams, he was an intriguing prospect. He possessed the physical tools needed to have success in the pros: great size (6-foot-3) and strength (325-pound bench press) combined with terrific speed (4.28 seconds in the 40-yard dash). He also showed an ability to out-leap defenders and make difficult catches. However, during his senior season, Watkins had dropped several wide-open passes and fumbled the ball a few times during important games. His stock declined sharply before the 2006 NFL Draft; he was eventually chosen in the seventh round (218th pick overall) by the Arizona Cardinals. He spent most of his rookie season on the Cardinals’ practice squad.
