Ivey was a student at Apopka High School in Apopka, Florida. As a sophomore, Ivey played a role in protecting his quarterback Zack Darlington as Apopka went with a record of 13-2 and also won in 2012 the FHSAA State Class 8A championship in the battle against Cypress Bay. The next season, Apopka made it to the final of state 8A but fell against South Dade. Following Darlington left and the offensive burden was transferred to midfielder Chandler Cox. With Ivey as the leader, Apopka went 12-4 and defeated Miami Columbus for the 2014 Class 8A state championship. Ivey was honored with the Hall Trophy as the U. S. Army Player of the Year.
In August of 2015, Ivey suffered a slight tear to the meniscus that was forming in the left side of his knee in practice and was scheduled to undergo an arthroscopic operation on the 28th of August. He was out for just over two weeks before making his debut for the college team against Kentucky on 19 September. Ivey participated in the last twelve games of the regular season and started in the final eight games, including the Citrus Bowl against Michigan. After the seasonended, Ivey was selected as a member of the SEC All- Freshman squad by the conference’s coaches.
Ivey was drafted in the 2nd round in phase two in the 2020 XFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Vipers.
