This year’s season saw Aiken achieve his first top 10 place at the top of the European Tour, with a fourth-place finish during the Alfred Dunhill Championship, having been leading to the end of the day after setting a course record of 60 in round three. The result, as well as a few other top-10 results, including a win of the Platinum Classic, meant Aiken finished in the 2008 Sunshine Tour in third spot in the Order of Merit.
Aiken picked up his second European Tour win at the 2013 Avantha Masters, a tournament co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour.
In 2014, Aiken won the Sunshine Tour’s Order of Merit, overtaking Danie van Tonder in the final tournament.
A string of top-10 results at the top of the European Tour in 2009, including two of them in major events and the World Golf Championships, helped Aiken to qualify for his goal of winning the Dubai World Championship despite holding only a partial title on the Tour. He was with a 46th place finish in the Race to Dubai.

After a impressive amateur career, which included winning as the South African Amateur of the Year in 2001, Aiken turned professional at the beginning of 2002. The year 2004 saw him took home three times during the Sunshine Tour’s Winter Swing. In the following year, he made it to the top of the list of money won on his Winter Swing with two further wins.
In 2007 Aiken participated in the Nationwide Tour, but made only three cuts, and the best result of tied 13th at the Price Cutter Charity Championship. Aiken earned the European Tour card for 2008 through the qualifying schools, and then went on to finish 1131st in the list of money winners with a top score of tied 13th at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, his sole finish within the top 30.
In May 2011, Aiken won his first title on the European Tour at the Open de España, winning by two strokes from Anders Hansen. After winning Aiken dedicated the win to home hero Seve Ballesteros who had died the previous day. “I definitely want to dedicate this win to him with it being his home Open and what he gave to his home fans and to golf,” said Aiken.
