Houck was a student at Collinsville High School situated in Collinsville, Illinois. Houck was selected to the Toronto Blue Jays in the 12th round of 2014’s Major League Baseball Draft, however, he didn’t sign. Instead, he went to his own University of Missouri to play college baseball.

Following the 2019 regular season, Houck made six starts for the Peoria Javelinas of the Arizona Fall League.
