Hiromitsu Kanehara is one of the most popular and richest Professional Wrestler who was born on October 5, 1970 in Owariasahi, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. PRIDE’s 29th event was his last appearance. He was defeated by MauricioRua via TKO (stomp), in the first round.

Kanehara made his international MMA debut at the King of Kings tournament in

1999. He faced stiff opposition. Kanehara defeated Jeremy Horn in a lengthy grappling match in the first round. He won the unanimous decision due to his superior wrestling skills and groundwork. Kanehara then faced Dan Henderson, the eventual winner. Kanehara suffered a broken nose and was eventually dominated by Dan Henderson, who took the majority of the match.

Kanehara made his MMA debut on May 29, 1998 against Lee Hasdell. He won by decision. After victories over Hans Nijman, Sander MacKilljan and Hasdell, Kanehara’s winning streak ended against Ricardo Morais, a Carlson Gracie apprentice. Kanehara was dominated by Morais, 60 pounds heavier than him. The Japanese were left to attempt Kimura locks from under his feet and try to escape.

Hiromitsu Kanehara, Jin Yuan Hong Guang, Kanehara Hiromitsu (born Kim Wanghong on October 5, 1970 in Owariasahi (Aichi))) is a former professional mixed martial artist from Japan and professional wrestler. From 1998 to 2012, he was a professional MMA competitor. He competed at the PRIDE Fighting Championships (DEEP, Pancrase), RINGS and K-1 HERO’S. Kanehara has also competed in professional kickboxing.

Kanehara began his career as a professional wrestler back in 1991. However, he was not successful and quit professional wrestling in the late 1990s when Fighting Network RINGS, his home circuit, decided to discontinue the sport. Kanehara has only made sporadic appearances, unlike his shoot-style comrades, Minoru Suzuki, Wataru Sakata and Masayuki Naruse.

After the tournament, Kanehara avenged his defeat to Valentijn Overeem, knocking out the Dutch fighter via punch from the clinch in a much shorter match. He was next sent as a RINGS representative to the event Colosseum 2000, where he found himself in front of Brazilian jiu-jitsu legend Mario Sperry; even at loss, Kanehara performed impressively, countering and escaping all the bad positions he was caught with by Sperry. Before the next edition of the tournament, Kanehara still fought the former finalist Renato “Babalu” Sobral, losing by decision.
