Susanna Rahkamo Biography

Susanna Rahkamo is one of the most popular and richest Figure Skater who was born on February 25, 1965 in Helsinki, Uusimaa, Finland. Susanna Rahkamo (born 25 February 1965) is a Finnish former ice dancer in competition. She was a competitor with Petri Kokko who is her future husband. Together with Kokko she was her champion of the year 1995, European champion, the 1995 World gold medalist and has competed at her first Winter Olympics twice.

Rahkamo and Kokko got married in 1995. They have two children. Max who was born in the year 2001, and Camilla who was born in the year 2003. Rahkamo has a master’s diploma in the field of education from Helsinki University, Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry as well as she holds a Ph.D (Tech) in Technology from Aalto University She works as an executive consultant. Rahkamo was elected as president of the Finnish Figure Skating Association in 2004 and vice president of the Finnish nation’s Olympic commission in November of 2012.

At the 1995 European Championships, Rahkamo/Kokko became Finland’s first European champions in figure skating — their country’s next European title came in 2009 when Laura Lepistö won the ladies’ singles event. They went on to win the silver medal at the 1995 World Championships. Their quickstep original dance from the 1994–95 season was adapted into a compulsory dance/pattern dance. It was ratified in June 2008 as the Finnstep.

In 1993 and 1994, the Rahkamo/Kokko team were on the top of the podium in 1993-94 at Piruetten. They were in fourth place at 1994’s European Championships and at the 1994 Winter Olympics. They concluded their season with a an Olympic bronze medal at the World Championships in 1994. Rahkamo/Kokko came together in 1985.
