Stewart Robson is one of the most popular and richest Association Football Player who was born on November 6, 1964 in Billericay, England, United Kingdom. Stewart Ian Robson (born 6 November 1964) is an English former footballer and radio and television football pundit. He was a player for Arsenal, West Ham United in which he was their best player in 1988, as well as Coventry City. After his football career came to an end, the player was employed as a radio and television reporter in Arsenal TV until 2012, ESPN, TalkSPORT and currently as BT Sport’s Italian football co-commentator.
His contract was transferred by West Ham United in January 1987 for a price of PS700,000. The time he spent at West Ham was plagued with injuries, mainly in his pelvis. The manager John Lyall later revealed that Robson was in the hospital at Highbury at the time he signed him but he wasn’t always completely ready for the Hammers. The first time he played in a West Ham game was on the 24th of January, 1987, with a 3-1 win away against Coventry City. He was a regular player in the Hammers initial team for 2 1/2 seasons, as well as Player of the Year for the year 1988. But, he was sacked when they were dropped in 1989. He played only eight league matches in the subsequent two years due to an array of accidents to his pelvic region. His final game was 6-1 FA Cup defeat of Aldershot on the 16th of January in 1991.
Robson later joined Wimbledon as a youth coach, eventually moving up the ranks to become reserve team manager and then first-team coach until leaving in December 2001. In 2003, he spent a short spell as first-team coach and as caretaker manager at Southend United between 25 March 2003 and 18 April 2003. In 2004, he joined Rushden & Diamonds as technical director of football.
Robson has teamed up with Martin Tyler as the commentary duo for the non UK international feed of the FA Cup. He worked for Arsenal TV as co-commentator. He commentated for BT Sport for the 2012 African Cup Of Nations. He has also appeared on Absolute Radio’s Rock’n’Roll Football alongside Jim Proudfoot. Robson is a regular contributor on the football podcast released by The Times in conjunction with their weekly football supplement The Game. He has also presented on TalkSPORT and as BT Sport’s Italian football co-commentator. For the 2014 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2016, Robson partnered with Jon Champion for ESPN’s coverage in the United States.
After the appointment to replace George Graham as manager in May of 1986, Robson found himself frozen out of the Arsenal side. He only played five matches in the 1986-87 season before being replaced by Steve Williams. When he left in January 1987, Robson played in 186 matches for Arsenal and scored 21 goals.
