Steven Allan Jensen (born April 14 1955) is an ex-professional player in ice hockey and the director and owner of Heartland Hockey Camps. Jensen played offensively that played in 438 games of the National Hockey League from 1976-82. In the last seven years Jensen is the the director and owner for the Heartland Hockey Camp situated at Deerwood, Minnesota and is currently a full-time professional in teaching having more than 30 years coaching experience, which includes 12 years of with International in and NHL hockey as well as 5 U.S. National Teams, and the 1976 Canada Cup.
Jensen began his professional journey in his home town with his hometown team, the Minnesota North Stars and in 1977, he made history with the Minnesota North Stars becoming the first team in the NHL with four newcomers scoring at least 20 goals. The following year, he played as a player for the Los Angeles Kings, where Jensen became the only American to be the fifth American in NHL time to have scored over 100 goals in a career. In the 1980-81 and 1981-82 NHL seasons, Jensen was the top active in goal-scoring American within the NHL.
The Heartland Hockey Camp, which Jensen founded in 1985, was named Small Business Success Story, by Twin Cities Business Magazine, in 2009.
Jensen served USA Hockey for 17 years as a certified hockey official. From 1985-98, he officiated over 1,500 USA youth hockey games. He currently serves as the Head Scout, of the USA Hockey SE Region, for the Aberdeen Wings, a member of the North American Hockey League.
Steve is also a veteran playing International hockey. In his team in 1976 for the U.S. Olympic Hockey Team Steve was the top player in scoring goals with 52 goals. At the 1996 Olympic Games, in Innsbruck, Austria, Steve was closely matched the Russian’s Vladimir Shadrin, with six goals in six games leading the tournament in goals scored. The year 1983 was the time Steve played a significant player on the U.S. National Team, winning the World Ice Hockey Championships, in Tokyo, Japan.

As a player in the hockey field, playing at Armstrong High School, in Plymouth, Minnesota, Jensen was an All-State player. On the college level Jensen played in two NCAA championship games. He helped to win the National Championship, in 1975 during his time in the NCAA tournament at Michigan Tech. For two years in a row, Jensen was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team. When he was a freshman in the MTU program MTU, Jensen was awarded the Matovich Top Student/Athlete Award.
Jensen was the only Minnesotan hockey player to go to Michigan Tech on a scholarship. He was employed by CBS Sports as a color commentator in the 1996 Stanley Cup playoffs, and was briefly featured in the film Airplane II. Jensen also played four seasons playing and coaching in the professional leagues of Switzerland and Austria. During the 1983-84 Swiss-2 season, while playing for EVZ in Zug, Jensen became the only hockey player in Swiss history to score seven goals in a pro game. During his two seasons, as a player in Switzerland, he had 61 goals in 56 games. During the 1976 World Ice Hockey Championships, in Katowice, Poland, Jensen led Team USA in scoring with four goals and five assists in nine games. Jensen was also on the preliminary roster of the 1979 Team USA World Championship, in Vienna, Austria and 1981 Canada Cup teams, but declined the invitation, in order to operate his summer hockey camp business.
