In 2007 Fone was the first player to make his debut with the nation, participating in the World Junior Championships for Team GB.

Fone was a part of the Sheffield organization until the conclusion of the season in 2004/05, playing with the Steelhawks and in the Sheffield Scimitars and as well as joining Sheffield Steelers’ senior Sheffield Steelers to play for the Steelers over a time but Fone did not play in a league match with the Steelers.
Fone relocated during the 2005/06 season. He divided the season into four appearances for the Scimitars however it was with the Solihull Barons that he established himself as the goalie of first choice. The Barons played him at EPL level for 46 times with his new club.
Fone made a loan move to the Blaze’s EIHL rivals the Manchester Phoenix in January 2008 due to an injury to the Phoenix’s first choice goaltender, Scott Fankhouser. Fone started well for the Phoenix, winning the Man of the Match award for his heroics in a 5-2 victory against the Cardiff Devils. Fone started two more games for the Phoenix before returning to again play for the Blaze.
