Almond’s 2014 novel Against Football, which documents his discontent in American football, was based on two pieces he wrote in The New York Times. The second book by Almond, Candyfreak (2005) was an New York Times Best Seller and was awarded the American Library Association Alex Award and was called the Booksense Adult Nonfiction Book of the Year.
Almond is a frequent reporter on NPR’s Here & Now and on WGBH which are both located in Boston. On October 27, 2011, Almond appeared as a guest on the podcast WTF featuring Marc Maron.
