Steele Retchless (born 16 June 1971) is an Australian former professional footballer in the league that played during the 90s and the 2000s. He was previously a player with both the Brisbane Broncos and London Broncos predominantly in the second row. Retchless played in his final match with Easts Tigers in a Queensland Wizard Cup preliminary final loss to Redcliffe Dolphins in 2006, and is father to two boys and one girl.
The year 1999 was the time that Retchless made a sensational final-minute goal at the Challenge Cup semi-final to earn the London Broncos a place in their first ever final. In his final year at the club, in 2004, Retchless was awarded Player of the Year.
The disintegration of the Crushers provided a chance to compete in Britain’s Super League for the London Broncos. In seven seasons with this club Retchless recorded a record-breaking for appearances. In 1998, against Bradford Bulls, he made an Super League record of 66 tackles in a single game. The following season, he was named as a member of the 1998 Super League III Dream Team.

Steele Retchless is the son of the former Brisbane Rugby League player Mick Retchless. He played in his youth football with Fortitude Valley Diehards and made his debut in the senior ranks with the club in 1991. The year 1993 saw Retchless changed clubs to Wests Panthers competing in consecutive finals and taking home the Brisbane Rugby League premiership in his first season at the club.
Retchless joined the first-grade Australian Rugby League premiership side the Brisbane Broncos in 1995. In the course of a two-year deal, the Brisbane Broncos made only 11 appearances. He was a part of the 1997 season when Retchless made the move to South Queensland Crushers and participated in 22 games. The Crushers were awarded another wooden spoon before resigning at the close in the year.
After his time in London, Retchless returned to Australia to play in the Queensland Wizard Cup for Ipswich Jets in 2005. After finishing that season as a leading contender for the Qantas Player of the Year, Retchless played a season for Easts Tigers in 2006. Easts made the finals but were subsequently beaten by Redcliffe in the major Semi-Final, with Redcliffe going on to win the premiership. Retchless won the Player of the Year award for Easts Tigers and also Best Forward in his final season.
