In February of 2016 Ofahengaue took part in the Maroons camp disaster since he was one the designated drivers along with Dale Copley. They were along with eight other players including Anthony Milford, Cameron Munster, Valentine Holmes and Dylan Napa who violated the midnight curfew of camp and partied into the late into the night following a drink session in the Story Bridge Hotel. In round 8 against the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Ofahengaue made his return to the Broncos top squad, playing off the interchange bench in the 25-24 win at ANZ Stadium. On 8 May 2017, Ofahengaue played for Tonga against Fiji in a Pacific Test, starting at lock in the 26-24 win at Campbelltown Stadium. On 19 June 2017, Ofahengaue extended his contract with the Broncos to the end of the 2019 season. Ofahengaue finished the 2017 NRL season with him playing in 16 matches and scoring 1 try for the Broncos. On 5 October 2017, Ofahengaue was selected in the 24-man Tonga squad for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup. Ofahengaue only played in one match in the tournament which was against Lebanon, starting at prop in the 24-22 win at AMI Stadium in Christchurch.
In the second round in the 2015 NRL season Ofahengaue played his NRL debut for the Brisbane Broncos against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and played off the bench of interchange in the 10-2 victory on Shark Park. On May 2, 2015, Ofahengaue was again a player in The Junior Kangaroos against Junior Kiwis playing at prop in the win of 22-20 on the pitch at Robina Stadium. On June 1, 2015, Ofahengaue renewed his contract with the Broncos with a two-year agreement. On September 14, 2015 Ofahengaue was named as a captain in the NYC Team of the Year. On the 4th of October, 2015 during the Broncos 2015 NRL Grand Final against Queensland opponents The North Queensland Cowboys, Ofahengaue was on the bench as an interchange player in the heartbreaking 17-16 golden point extra-time loss. Ofahengaue completed his first year in the NRL by playing in 14 games for the Broncos during their 2015 NRL season. On October 17, 2015, Ofahengaue was a player in the national team of Tonga with the Cook Islands in their Asia-Pacific qualifying match in preparation for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup and was a lock during the victory of 28-8 on the pitch at Campbelltown Stadium.

Later into the season, Ofahengaue found himself behind in the pecking order in the forward stocks in the likes of Jai Arrow and Tevita Pangai Junior and was languishing in the Queensland Cup, playing for the Souths Logan Magpies for the rest of the year after round 21. Ofahengaue finished the 2016 NRL season with him playing in 16 matches and scoring 1 try.
