Sophie Heathcote (25 December 1972 from 25 December 1972 to the 4th of January, 2005) was an Australian actress and model, best known for her performance in the film Reckless Kelly as well as for her roles on television in regular serials which included A Country Practice, Water Rats and Grass Roots
The actress graduated from the Australian National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in the latter half of 1994. The roles she played in acting included Bordertown, GP and Soldier Soldier. In the following years, she assumed the role of the Chief Constable Fiona Cassidy in Water Rats (1996-97) which was followed by her role on Raw FM, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation series Raw FM (1997) where she was a sexy, lesbian dancer Sam in a role that she described as challenging than anything else she’s played after her departure from NIDA. She was awarded the AFI Award in the year 2000, for her performance as a character on the ABC series Grass Roots.
Heathcote died suddenly on 4 January 2006 in Connecticut, reportedly from an aneurysm. She had also been suffering from skin and pancreatic cancer.
