On the 29th of April, 2018, Woolford was named the new head coach for Huddersfield Giants in Super league for a two-and-a-half year contract. He replaced Chris Thorman, who had been in interim capacity after the demotion from Rick Stone earlier in the season.
Woolford was the coach of for the Queanbeyan Blues in the Canberra Rugby League competition. In 2015, he was banned for nine months for breaking the window in the box for coaching. However, this was later overturned at an appeal and a sentence of suspended three months was handed down. In the year 2016 Woolford started coaching his team Newcastle Intrust Super Premiership NSW team, and in 2017 he brought the team into the semi-finals.
