Shunji Takano is one of the most popular and richest Japanese professional wrestler who was born on February 16, 1964 in Fukuoka, Japan. Takano has been born the 16th of February 1964. His father was an African-American American Marine, who was part of the base at Iwakuni. He is also a boxer with potential. His father later returned in the United States and left his wife as who was a japanese female, as well as two children in Japan. Takano lived in the home of his mother and brother and was a mixed- blooded child.

Takano came back to AJPW at the beginning of February in 1988. By the time he returned his stock was starting to increase. The following summer, Takano began joining forces together with Shinichi Nakano. In September, 1988 Takano and Nakano beat Footloose (Samson Fuyuki, Toshiaki Kawada) to take home the All Asia Tag Team Championship which ended their reign just six months. However, Footloose was able to regain the titles a week after. At the end in 1988, Takano joined forces along with John Tenta for the World’s Strongest Tag Determination League, however, they ended up in ninth with just four points. In the following year the same thing happened and this time, he had the legendary Kabuki with him as his team. However, he was unable to finish the race with just two points in a tie with the Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags).

After SWS folded in June 1992, Shunji Takano joined his brother George in forming a new promotion called Pro Wrestling Crusaders. Their trainees had included Masato Tanaka and Tetsuhiro Kuroda, who both transferred to Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling. Aside from running PWC, he would also wrestle for other promotions including Network Of Wrestling, Social Progress Wrestling Federation, Wrestling International New Generations, International Wrestling Association of Japan, and Michinoku Pro Wrestling. PWC folded in 1994.

His last match as a wrestler was held on December 26, 1996, as Gulliver X, teaming with Gulliver XX, losing to The Great Sasuke and Yuki Ishikawa. He quietly retired shortly thereafter.

Following a brief visit to Calgary, Shunji Takano went to All Japan Pro Wrestling in November 1985. He was originally one of Riki Choshu’s Japan Pro- Wrestling group. In October of 1986 Takano made an adventure into America. United States. His first stop was Verne Gagne’s American Wrestling Association in Minneapolis through Masa Saito’s connections. There, the wrestler was disguised and was known as the Super Ninja. After his first appearance and his affiliation by Larry Zbyszko. On January 27, 1987 Takano was in his debut title fight with Nick Bockwinkel for the AWA World Heavyweight Championship and which he was disqualified. Then, in May of 1987, Takano relocated from Portland in order to compete for the Don Owen’s Pacific Northwest Wrestling, still wrestling under the Super Ninja persona. Then, in July of 1987, Takano took home his first title that year, his first title, the NWA Pacific Northwest Tag Team Championship alongside Rip Oliver who held the title for nearly two years, prior to the time Oliver quit the territory being replaced with Joey Jackson, who Takano held the title for almost two months, until finally losing them to the Southern Rockers (Steve Doll and Scott Peterson).

Shunji Takano (Gao Ye Jun Er Takano Shunji) (born on 16 February 1964) is a Japanese professional wrestler who has retired.

Shunji Takano debuted for New Japan Pro Wrestling on December 8, 1981, defeating Fumihiro Niikura. In his early days He stayed in the undercard as well as the lower mid-card, battling with the likes of Niikura, Shinichi Nakano, Shunji Kosugi, Norio Honaga, Nobuhiko Takada, Masanobu Kurisu, and Junji Hirata. When Takano was in 1983, he took an adventure to Canada and wrestled in Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling in Calgary. There, he joined an alliance with Hiro Saito, known as”the Calgary Hurricanes, which would eventually become a trio along that included Junji Hirata, who by then was dubbed the disguised Super Strong Machine. After his return to NJPW in the month of October, 1984 Takano started moving his way up to the ranks slowly, however his discontent with the company was the reason he left NJPW in September of 1985.

After leaving AJPW in the summer of 1990, Shunji Takano joined Super World of Sports, in which he joined the stable, Palestra, led by his older brother, George. On SWS’s pre-launch show on September 29, 1990, a one-night singles tournament took place, in which Shunji defeated Fumihiro Niikura and Kendo Nagasaki, before losing to his older brother George in the semi-finals. When SWS officially launched the promotion on October 18, 1990, Shunji teamed with his brother George for the one-night tag team tournament, in which they defeated Isao Takagi and Yoshiaki Yatsu in the semi-finals and Genichiro Tenryu and The Great Kabuki in the finals. On November 22, 1990, he took part in another one-night tag team tournament, this time with Naoki Sano as his partner. They defeated Takashi Ishikawa and The Great Kabuki in the semi- finals, but lost to Genichiro Tenryu and Koji Kitao in the finals. On August 9, 1991, he teamed up with his older brother for another one-night tag team tournament. They defeated The Great Kabuki and Tito Santana in the first round, but lost to The Legion Of Doom in the semi-finals. On April 16, 1992, he and his older brother won the SWS Tag Team Championship, defeating King Haku and Yoshiaki Yatsu. Unfortunately, their reign didn’t last long, as they lost the titles to The Natural Disasters the next day.
