After resigning from skating competitively, Higgins and Rice toured professionally on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Pairs of competitors, Higgins and Rice won bronze at the 1992 Nebelhorn Trophy and at the 1993 Canadian Nationals. They were selected for in 1993 to the World Championships where they placed 10th. The next season was not as productive for the two. They placed 6th at Nationals and did not make it to Worlds. After taking Bronze at the 1995 Canadian Championships, they obtained another trip to Worlds and placed 14th. They did not make it to the podium at Nationals however they did win Bronze during the 1995 Skate Canada International.
Fours competition in fours at the Canadian Championships, Higgins and Rice were awarded gold medals along with Scott MacDonald and Alison Purkiss (1994-1996) as well as Jodi Barnes, and Rob Williams (1993). They also took home the bronze medal in 1992 with Janice Yeck and Scott MacDonald as well as the silver medal of 1997 together with Melissa Shields and Trevor Buttenham.
