Scott Matthew Ullger (born June 10 1955, in New York City) is a former Major League Baseball player and coach. He was a 20-year veteran (1995-2014) as a coach with the Minnesota Twins of Major League Baseball and played four roles, including 3rd base, first base Coach as well as hitting instructor and bench coach. Ullger was often called “Scotty” by Twins faithfuls as well as by radio the Twins’ broadcasters Bert Blyleven and Dick Bremer.
The team was in May of 2008 when Ullger led the team through five contests because of the passing of the brother of Gardenhire’s Ron Mike and also for a road match that took place in New York at the end of the month, while Gardenhire attended his daughter’s graduation ceremony.

In December 2010 , it was announced that he was going to be the Twins bench coach. He would be swapping positions along with Steve Liddle. This gave him the opportunity to collaborate more closely with manager Ron Gardenhire.

Ullger who was born in Plainview, New York, was selected to the Twins in 1977. He was invited to the team in 1983 following having a great playing career as a minor leaguer. The experience did not result in big league success since Ullger only played 35 games for the majors, predominantly at first base throughout the 1983 season.
Following his playing career, Ullger became a coach. Ullger was appointed director for Visalia Oaks in 1988. Visalia Oaks in 1988, being named one of the California League Manager of the Year in the year 1990. He also enjoyed successful stints with the Portland Beavers/Salt lake Buzz, when the team was the Twins A affiliate of AAA.
