Samuel Vilozny is one of the most popular and richest Theatre Director who was born on January 10, 1954 in Ramat Gan, Israel. Vilozny was born in Ramat Gan in 1954. Vilozny completed his studies at the Beit Zvi School for the Performing Arts in 1979.
In 1989 Vilozny was a participant in the municipal elections as the leader of the political party “Samuel Vilozny-Our City” (“SHmvAl Vylvz’ny – SHlnv”) however the party was only able to win 1 seat (his personal). The party was widely regarded as an important opposition leader to the mayor of the time Shlomo Lahat. After the expiration of his tenure, Vilozny was removed from politics however, he returned into politics, when he was elected mayor of Tel Aviv. In the elections of 1998, Vilozny’s political party won two seats on the city council, and in the mayoral election the mayor came in third position, behind Ron Huldai as well as Doron Rubin. He received 13.5 percent of the votes. His party was in opposition throughout his time in office and he then declared that he would not be running for in the next municipal election, and also announced that he would retire from politics.
Through the years Vilozny also starred in various television programs. In 1997 he starred in the comedy series “Tzahal 1” (צה”ל 1). Later on he hosted the travel program “Zman Galil” on the Israeli Channel 10. In 2002 Vilozny played in the TV film “Two minutes from Paradise” (“שתי דקות מפרדייז”) directed by Daniel Syrkin. In 2003 Vilozny starred in the TV series “Tzimerim” (“צימרים”) in the Israeli channel 1. Two years later Vilozny participated in the second season of the drama series “Seize the Sky” (לתפוס את השמיים), and also hosted the satirical program “Pkakim” (פקקים) on the Israeli sports channel
In the 2003 Knesset elections Vilozny was ranked at the fifth position for the party The Greens.
Vilozny was among the stand-up comedians who first came to prominence in Israel who greatly contributed to the growth of the Israeli stand-up scene during the mid-1980s when he established an open-air stand-up venue located in Tel Aviv called the “Camel Comedy Club” which staged numerous stand-up shows on a regular basis and from where many of the most well-known comedians in Israel currently came to prominence. Vilozny was captivated by stand-up comedy when seeing a stand-up performance his first time around London in the 1980s. Following his return back to Israel, Vilozny began performing in stand-up routines across Israel and was considered to be innovative in the early days, and shortly following, he established the stand-up club. After a few promising and young comedians joined his standing-up troupe, Vilozny started to limit his stand-up routines and began to concentrate his work on performing in films and in theater.

Samuel Vilozny (born 10 January 1954) (Hebrew ShmvAl”vylvz’ny” ) is an Israeli actor, comedian and director, as an activist in the political arena.
Through the years, Vilozny played in eight feature films, the majority of them
were made in the 1980s. He eventually decided to end his film career in the
beginning of 1990s to concentrate on other professions, including theatre. The
year 1983 was the time he appeared in his debut film, which is “The Dormitory”
(hpnymyh) in which he was a co-star with Alon Abutbul. In 1984, he was part in
“Testimony of Wrongdoing “(dvt mAvns) along with Uri Gavriel as well as Oshik Levy. In 1986, he appeared in “The Great Madness” (hSHg
vn hgdvl) along with
Anat Wasman Dov Navon as well as Sefi Rivlin. In 1987, he appeared in “Tel
Aviv-Berlin” and “Don’t Give a Fuck” (lA SHm zyn) that was based on the book
of the same name written by Dan Ben-Amotz. In 1992, Vilozny played a role as a
character in Michal Bat-Adam’s movie The Deserter’s Wife and in 1995, he made
an documentary titled “Daddy let’s go to the Luna Park” in which he detailed
his complicated relationship with his father who has been a Holocaust
survivor. The documentary is a journey through their experience to Auschwitz.
During the 1990s, Vilozny directed several plays for the Habima theater including “Twelve Angry Men”, “An Inspector Calls”, and “Divorce 4 TWO” starring Shlomo Vishinsky, as well as Vilozny’s one-man show called “The Jew in the dark.” (יהודי בחושך)
