Rohan Hoffmann is one of the most popular and richest Australian rugby union player who was born on January 14, 1972 in Brisbane, Australia. Peter D’Rohan Hoffmann (born 14 January 1972) is an Australian- Portuguese rugby union referee and former international player for Portugal. He was a flyhalf and fullback. He was one of the most outstanding Portuguese players of his time, earning nicknames such as Ze Rohan or Mister Canguru.
After playing for Worcester Warriors in England, he returned to England, but he was unsuccessful and broke two legs. He returned to Portugal to play for Grupo desportivo Direito in Lisbon. He won the Portuguese Championship, the Cup of Portugal and the Iberian Cup of 2002.
He returned to Australia, and in December 2012 was named as part of the 18-man referee team for Super Rugby 2013. His debut was on 1 March 2013 when the Waratahs played the Melbourne Rebels.
Born in Brisbane, he studied at the Marist College, in Ashgrove, the same rugby school of John Eales. After Ashgrove he played for Brothers Old Boys in Brisbane and for Queensland Schools, Queensland U-19 and Queensland U-21. He was in his second season with Brothers 1st XV when he received the invitation to move to England.
His international career reached its peak at the 1999 Rugby World Cup qualification. He scored a 90-meter try against Scotland XV in an 85-11 loss at Murrayfield on 28 November 1998. In that game, he also scored the drop goal. Portugal lost to Spain 21-17 at 1/12/98, which meant they had to play Uruguay in repechage. Portugal lost both repechage matches, but it was their best result.

Hoffmann was a London Scottish F.C. player. In the English Premiership, 1992/93 season. Andrew Cushing, the Scottish coach, offered him a chance to spend a season in Portugal. From 1993/94 to 1997/98 he was a member of the Lisbon team, where they won the Cup of Portugal in 1993/94 and the Portuguese Championship in 1993/94.
He became a naturalized citizen of Portugal and decided to represent Portugal. From the 64-3 defeat to Italy at Lisbon on 2 March 1996 to the FIRA Championship D1, Pool 2 in Lisbon, to the 34-21 loss against Spain at Madrid 2 June 2002 to qualify for the 2003 Rugby World Cup, he won 27 caps. He was one the most prolific scorers for Portugal in his international career. He scored 7 tries, 2 conversions and 8 penalties, totalling 77 points.
He started to coach at a young level while still playing, being Técnico U-18 head coach. He also started an international referee career, first at a youth level, in 2002, and at the senior level, in 2006. His first international match took place in Monaco, at 11 October 2008, between Monaco and Bosnia- Herzegovina.
