Robin Stone’s original version of “Show Me Love” was released in 1990. Fred McFarlane produced the track, which went on to be a moderate hit. The track was remixed in 1993 by StoneBridge, a Swedish producer and DJ. It was re- released with Big Beat Records under the name Robin S. The same year saw the release of this remix and her debut album, Show Me Love, climb the charts. The remixed version “Show Me Love” reached #1 on Hot Dance Music/Club Play, #11 on Hot Dance Singles Sales and #7 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles and Tracks, and #5 on Billboard Hot 100. It reached #4 on the Rhythmic Top 40 charts. She was awarded a place on the 1994 “American Music Awards”, as a performer, for her success. Similar success was seen with the follow-up singles “Luv 4 Luv”, and “What I Do Best”. In 2004, Show Me Love had sold 330,000 copies in the US.
After taking some time to write songs, she started working with Todd Terry and Eric “E-Smoove” Miller on her second album. Released on Atlantic Records in 1997, From Now On was a reflection of Robin S.’s wider interests. It included Contemporary R&B and Gospel ballads, as well as Hi-NRG dance floor material. The album’s debut single, “It must be love”, was a huge success, reaching #1 on the Hot Dance Club Play charts for two weeks. It also reached #35 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts, becoming a crossover hit. The song was also a minor pop hit and peaked at #91 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
