Born in Madrid, Batres joined Atletico Madrid’s youth ranks when he was 10. He played one season in the Tercera Division C-team, and then he joined Atletico Madrid’s youth ranks at the age of 10. He went on to represent the reserve team for six years in Segunda Division B. He scored nine goals in just 15 games between 2007-08.
Batres was temporarily loaned to Albacete Balompie in July 2009. However, he failed to make an impact on the Segunda Division side. He played just 16 minutes against Real Sociedad in a 0-0 home draw. He joined Shanghai Shenhua F.C. in January 2009. He was on loan for the duration of the campaign, but he sustained another serious injury to his knee and had to return home for rehabilitation and surgery.
