Robert Wade Hammock, born May 13, 1977, is an American professional baseball catcher and coach. He is currently the Arizona Diamondbacks’ quality control and catching coach.

Hammock didn’t appear in any major league games in 2005 and only appeared in three games for Triple-A Tucson Sidewinders. He was on the sidewinders’ 2006 roster, where he played several positions. After the Sidewinders won their Pacific Coast League Championship, he was called up and played in one game.

On February 1, 2010, Hammock signed a minor league contract with the Colorado Rockies. On April 3, 2010, Hammock was traded to the New York Yankees for a player to be named later. Hammock signed a minor league contract with the Diamondbacks for the 2011 season.

Hammock began his coaching career in the D-Backs’ minor-league system, managing in 2014 for the Visalia Rawhide and 2015 and 2016 for the Mobile BayBears.

Hammock made only two minor league stops in 2004, before rejoining the Diamondbacks. He was a part of 62 games and started 46 games at catcher. That season, he hit.241 with 16 runs. He caught Randy Johnson’s perfect ball on May 18, 2004.

Hammock was drafted by three teams: the Florida Marlins in 1995, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 1997, and the Arizona Diamondbacks in 1998. From 1998 to 2002, he played five seasons in various minor leagues. He played 65 games in the major league club’s 2003 season, hitting.282 and playing catcher for 28 of them. His performance was good enough to get him on the 2003 Topps All-Star Rookie roster. In 2003, Robby was third behind Chad Moeller for Arizona and Rod Barajas.
