Richard Gordon Kromm, born March 29, 1964 in Canada, is an American ex-professional ice hockey left winger who also played for the New York Islanders and the Calgary Flames. Kromm is the current head coach and Director for Hockey Operations at the Stockton Thunder in the ECHL.

Erica Kromm, his daughter, played for the Brown Bears women’s ice hockey team. She was a member of the Calgary Inferno women’s hockey league. She was a part of the Inferno’s 2016 Clarkson Cup finals team and received a +2 rating. The Inferno won convincingly 8-3.

Kromm was named the Portland Winter Hawks’ head coach on August 8, 2007. Kromm was a player with the team between 1981 and 1984. Kromm was a former Winter Hawks captain. He played in 142 regular season games and scored 62 goals. He had seven goals and 16 assists in 28 playoff games. He was a member of the 1982-83 Memorial Cup team champions, scoring 35 goals and 68 assists in the regular season. He was the former head coach for the ECHL’s Evansville IceMen hockey club. Kromm was appointed the Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations for the Stockton Thunder on July 15, 2013. This ECHL affiliate is one of his former NHL teams, the New York Islanders.

He was raised in Dallas (Texas), Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Detroit (Michigan) while his father coached various professional teams. Richard was a Winnipeg minor hockey player who played with Brett Hull, the future NHL star.
