Rich Wortham is one of the most popular and richest Baseball Player who was born on October 22, 1953 in Odessa, Texas, United States. Richard Cooper Wortham, born October 22, 1953, is a former professional pitcher in baseball. Between 1978 and 1983, he played for the Chicago White Sox (or part thereof) in Major League Baseball. He was also a member of the Oakland Athletics.

Wortham was the White Sox’s number three starter in 1979. He had a solid first season in the major leagues, even though he didn’t have a great year. Although he won a record 14 games, his ERA was below-average at 4.90. He was also in the top ten league for losses with 14. He was fourth in league with 100 walks allowed. He was 8th in the league for strikeouts per nine innings pitched and it seemed that he had established his status as a reliable starting pitcher.

Wortham was moved to the bullpen to start the 1980 season, where he was used as a long reliever. He got off to an impressive start, as in his first three outings of the year, he pitched at least four innings, giving up no runs and a combined four hits in 12.2 innings while picking up a pair of wins. However, as April ended, he had a bad outing, giving up five runs in two innings, followed shortly by giving up six runs without recording an out on May 4.

Wortham went to spring training with the Expos in 1982, but was released on April 1. He was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies, and was assigned to the Double-A Reading Phillies to work out his problems. Instead, they were magnified, as he not only posted 58 walks in just 36.2 innings, but he failed to win a game, going 0–5, and his ERA was a bloated 11.54. The Phillies released him during the offseason.

In 1978, Wortham was the opening pitcher of the Iowa season. After Ken Kravec’s poor start, Wortham was called up to take his place. On May 3, he made his debut against the Milwaukee Brewers. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 3 runs and striking out 3. He won the Minnesota Twins’ next game, pitching 8 innings, giving up 2 runs and 9 hits. He gave up 10 hits in his next outing and was sent back to the minors. Kravec returned to the majors.
