After a loan period at Dover Athletic, Spence left Rushden and Diamonds for good in March 2011. He joined Thurrock in February 2013 after a brief spell at Dover Athletic and time at Bishop’s Stortford.
Before the start of the 2016–17 season, Spence signed for south London side Greenwich Borough, before returning to Thurrock for 2017–18. Spence scored the last ever Thurrock goal at Ship Lane on 21 April 2018 and finished their final ever season as top scorer with 12 goals and captain.
Spence sustained a foot injury in the summer 2009 that prevented him from being active for the pre-season. In September 2009, Spence was loaned to Conference National outfit Forest Green Rovers on a one-month-long contract. At the end of 2009-10, he was released by Wycombe and joined Rushden & Diamonds.

Spence was a regular on Crystal Palace’s Reserve, U-18 and U-19 teams. He made his debut in a Football League Cup match against Notts County as a player in August 2006. He continued his progression when he made his league debut against Leeds United at Elland Road on 11 February 2007. Then he made his first start against Burnley at Turf Moor on 3 March.
He joined Wycombe Wanderers in a two-year contract from Palace on 16 June
