Reginald Stephen “Reg” Traviss, a British filmmaker and writer was born 12 February 1977. In 2006, Traviss was made famous in the UK by the theatrical release of Joy Division, his first feature film. It starred Ed Stoppard and Bernadette Sheerwagen, Tom Schilling, Tom Schilling, Bernadette Hermann, Ricci Harnett, and Bernard Hill. His World War Two drama was followed by Psychosis in 2010. This psychological thriller, which Lionsgate released worldwide in 2010, starred Charisma Carpenter and Ricci Harnett, as well as Justin Hawkins (lead singer of The Darkness). Screwed was Traviss’ prison drama. It is based on Screwed: A Truth About Life As a Prison Officer (2008) by Ronnie Thompson, an ex-prison guard. Noel Clarke and James D’Arcy starred in the film. It was released theatrically in the UK on June 11, 2011.

In 2008 to 2009 Traviss worked on his second film Psychosis, a psychological- thriller and homage in the style of cult British chillers Hammer House of Horror and Tales of the Unexpected. This story was a remake of Dreamhouse from Michael Armstrong’s film Screamtime. Charisma Carpenter starred in the leading role. Ricci Harnett and Paul Sculfor were also present. Justin Hawkins was the rock singer. The film premiered at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square in London in 2010. Traviss directed Screwed in 2010. This film was an adaptation of Ronnie Thompson’s bestseller Screwed: A Truth About Life As a Prison Officer by Headline Publishing. It is about a former British soldier who returns to Britain to work in one of the most difficult prisons. Only to discover that the officers are corrupter than the convicts. In June 2011, Screwed was released in UK theatres. It starred James D’Arcy and Noel Clarke, as well as tough guys Jamie Harper and Jamie Foreman.

In 2015, a documentary film about Traviss’s late former girlfriend Amy Winehouse was released in the summer, entitled Amy. Winehouse’s family and Traviss publicly disapproved of the film, saying that it was “downright inaccurate” and contained “basic untruths”. Traviss and Winehouse’s father Mitch have asked the film crew to edit the film, as it portrays Winehouse’s father as a villain and contains nothing about Traviss. However, since the editors behind the movie declined their request, Mitch Winehouse and Traviss intend to create a new film about Winehouse, to correct all the inaccuracies and omissions that were in the documentary.
