Born into a family with an extensive musical heritage and a strong musical background, Shishir began his instruction in music at an early age from his mom, Pratima Parkhie. The father of his son, Shri Sharad Raghunath Parkhie had been working in the Architecture & City Planning department as an Assistant Chief Architect at Bokaro Steel City & his mother was a singer of Sugam Sangeet on a regular basis from All India Radio, Ranchi. Shishir began to study Vocal Music and Tabla when at the age of 6. He learned Tabla through Shri Kedarnath Thakur over a period of three years. In the following years, he performed remarkable performances on the stage. His exceptional participation in many contests has earned him many awards. His first solo performance at the age 15 in Bokaro was a huge hit with the Ghazal music lovers. He was honored with an award from All India Radio on the occasion of the International Year of the Child in 1979. Shishir passed his ICSE in St. Xavier’s School (Bokaro) and later relocated to Nagpur to pursue higher studies.
