Rami Serry has been racing since the age of 17. Since then he has been winning championships back to back in Egypt and the Middle East. He is considered to be a well rounded driver who is at the forefront in Single Seater racing (Formula) Gymkhana, Rallying, Circuit Racing, and most importantly – Drifting!

In September 2014, Serry once again made history by being the first Egyptian, Arab, and African to compete in a Licensing Series for Formula Drift USA.

Serry decided to create a track in Egypt after his release to avoid similar accidents. After several failed attempts, Serry decided that Egypt was not ready for motorsport and moved to Bahrain. Bahrain is considered the heartland of motorsport in the Middle East. He became the Managing Editor of Arabia Motors in the Persian Gulf. Serry spent two years racing in Bahrain and gained valuable experience. He raced in Formula BMW [2] at the Bahrain International Circuit, and also participated in drift challenges in the Persian Gulf. This helped him expand his fame to other parts of the Middle East. Serry returned to Egypt in order to launch his magazine [3] as well as a TV show. He has pursued many interests since his arrival, including experiments in BioGeometry with Dr. Ibrahim Karim. Both of them teamed up to bring the technology to the automotive and motorsport sectors. Serry promised promising results and was given the opportunity to share his experiences and discuss the new technology at TEDxCairo, which took place at American University in Cairo. Rami was a senior marketing manager at LINKdotNET from 2010 to 2010. He is now the Marketing Manager at Nestle Nespresso.

Serry was born in Cairo. He showed extraordinary driving abilities from a young age and gained respect in motorsport. He returned to Egypt in 2001 after completing his studies in the United States. Serry stayed with the Egyptian Autocross because there were not many options for racing events in the country. His extreme driving style quickly won him admirers and fans all over the country.

In 2005, however, his fame was shattered when a street race on Cairo’s main airport road resulted in an illegal street race. One of the drivers lost control and crashed into the crowd. This caused 12 injuries and killed. Serry was taken into police custody at Heliopolis the next day as a suspect in the fatal accident. A few witnesses had given his name to police, claiming that he was the driver of the silver BMW. Serry was initially charged with participating in an illegal race, but it was later proven that he hadn’t. He was also charged with organizing the race.

Serry made history in 2011 by being the first Egyptian to win Red Bull Car Park Drift [5] in Egypt. He continued to dominate the drifting scene by also winning the 2012 Red Bull CPD Egypt Qualifier as well as placing 2nd in the Middle East Finals in Jordan. This was despite having his car impounded by the Egyptian authorities at the borders of Egypt and Jordan in Nuweiba’ a day before the race. Serry has continued to place podium positions in every Red Bull Car Park Drift event since.
