Davis attended Gaffney High School, Gaffney South Carolina. As a junior, Davis caught 94 passes and gained 1,481 yards. He also scored 16 touchdowns. The season’s highlight was Davis’s catch of the winning touchdown at Lane Stadium, Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer’s last home game. The Tar Heels won ACC Coastal Division, before losing to the Clemson Tigres by a single touchdown in the ACC Championship. Davis was the UNC career leader in receptions, a record that Ryan Switzer has now surpassed. He also had career touchdown receptions.
