In the Detroit Lions’ season opener at the San Diego Chargers, Diggs made his professional regular season debut and recorded two solo tackles. Diggs stopped a five-yard reception by Keenan Allen in the fourth quarter, his first tackle of his career. Diggs made his debut in the NFL on October 23rd 2015 and recorded four tackles in their Week 7 loss to Minnesota Vikings, which was a 28-19 defeat. He was promoted to first-team nickelback the following week. This was after Nevin Lawson, who had been moved to outside cornerback due to Rashean Mathis’ concussion. Diggs had six combined tackles and one pass deflection during the Lions’ win over the Oakland Raiders 18-13 on November 22, 2015. Diggs finished his rookie season with 38 combined tackles (31 solo), and six pass deflections, in 16 games and four starts. He was awarded the 33rd highest overall Pro Football Focus grade.

The Detroit Lions selected Diggs in the sixth round (200th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft. He was the 26th cornerback drafted in 2015.

In Week 6, he collected five solo tackles during a 31–28 victory against the Los Angeles Rams. It was his third consecutive game with five solo tackles. On November 24, 2016, Diggs recorded a season-high six solo tackles in the Lions’ 16–13 victory against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 12. On December 6, 2016, the Detroit Lions placed Diggs on injured reserve after he suffered a pectoral injury during a Week 13 victory at the New Orleans Saints. Diggs finished the 2016 season with 44 combined tackles (40 solo) and a pass deflections in 12 games and four starts. He earned an overall grade of 49.5 from Pro Football Focus in 2016 and ranked 95th among the 111 qualifying cornerbacks.

After accepting his invitation, Diggs was announced to be participating in the Senior Bowl on December 1, 2014. Diggs participated in the 2015 Senior Bowl. He recorded four solo tackles as well as an interception for Ken Whisenhunt’s North team, which defeated the South 34-13. He participated in the NFL Scouting Combine, and completed all the drills. He was eighth in the bench press and 12th in short shuttle. He also finished 19th in the 40-yard run. Diggs was at Texas’s pro-day on March 24, 2015. He chose to stand on most of his combine numbers, and only did positional drills. Diggs’s broad jump at the combine was 9’11”.
