Taniela Tuiaki is one of the most popular and richest Rugby League Player who was born on May 2, 1982 in Auckland, Auckland Region, New Zealand. Taniela Tuiaki (born on May 2, 1982) is an ex-professional rugby league player who was a winger of the Wests Tigers in the NRL.

In every game played by the club in 2007 season, Tuiaki scored six attempts in the final seven weeks. In the second part of the season Tuiaki played for three weeks as a second row player. He played 20 games in 2008 and scored his first treble in the match against The Warriors in the Leichhardt Oval on 29 June.

He was named in the New Zealand training squad for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup.

Still suffering from the injury suffered at the end of 2009, Tuiaki failed to make any appearances in the 2010 season. There were some doubts whether Tuiaki would ever make a full recovery, and Wests Tigers signed him to an incentive- based contract for 2011, with bonuses for playing in set number of games.

In October 2007, Tuiaki got allowed to take on New Zealand against Australia in the 2007 Centenary Test. Tuiaki was then able to play in the three-match series losing against the Great Britain Lions in England between October and November 2007, scoring an attempt in the final match.

Tuiaki played his junior football with North Curl Curl. The player got his NRL debut following his switch from Rugby Union and was playing as a winger of the Wests Tigers against the New Zealand Warriors at Mt Smart Stadium in round 11 of the 2006 season. He scored two tries on his debut and then became an everyday player at the side for the following three and a quarter years.

Tuiaki was named in the Tonga squad for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup. Although he was not selected for the final New Zealand squad, Tuiaki was not allowed to play for Tonga as the Rugby League International Federation (RLIF) deemed him ineligible. Tonga appealed the decision but the NSW Supreme Court declined to grant an injunction which would enable Tuiaki and Fuifui Moimoi to play in Tonga’s opening match.
