The 1979-80 season of 1979-80 Randall began, Randall found himself in the reserve team as Durban made changes to his team. Randall started his first game in the season away to Ipswich Town and kept his place in the League Cup match against Swansea City which ended with Randall scoring 3-1 in the win. He was a part but out of the team in 1979-80 , finishing in the league with just 19 games, and only one goal scored in the final game of the season, as the team avoided being relegated. The 1980-81 season was coming in, Randall was in dis favor in the eyes of Alan Durban who informed Randall that he would be traded again with Bristol Rovers once they have raised enough money. Then he came from the bench on the 1st November, 1980 to score an equalizer late against Liverpool and scored a goal in the match against Manchester United on 13 December. Stoke agreed to Bristol Rovers’ proposition of PS55,000 for the club and Randall quit his home at Victoria Ground after scoring eight goals in just 51 games.
Gould quit in May 1983 to join Coventry and the board appointed David Williams as player-manager. Randall struggled with goals in 1983–84 scoring seven in 40 games as Rovers missed out on promotion by four points. His form returned in 1984–85 as he scored 22 goals in 51 games but Rovers again failed to gain promotion finishing 6th. Bobby Gould returned as manager for the 1985–86 season. Results and performances were poor and with Gould failing to keep an settled line-up Randall found himself in the reserves. He turned down a move to Dutch club NAC Breda in order to fight for his place at Rovers. But he failed to convince Gould to play him so Randall handed in a transfer request which drew an offer from non-league Yeovil Town which was accepted.
He joined Isthmian League Premier Division side Yeovil Town midway through the 1985–86 season. Yeovil were involved in a promotion race with Sutton United during much of the season, Sutton eventually winning the title. In 1986–87 Yeovil again finished 2nd this time to Wycombe Wanderers who amassed 101 points. Yeovil did gain promotion to the Alliance Premier League in 1987–88 with Randall scoring 25 goals. With Yeovil struggling at a higher level Randall joined Bath City in March 1989 where he went on to continue his prolific scoring record. At Bath Randall was a prolific goalscorer scoring 112 goals for the club in four years.
After arriving to Eastville, Randall met with his former coach for youth teams Bobby Campbell and former teammates, Tony Pulis, Martin Thomas, Peter Aitken and Phil Bater. The love for punk music that Randall has for a long time earned him the name “Punky” amongst his Rovers teammates. After his first training session, the manager informed him Don Megson that he would take part in a friendly match against Trowbridge Town. Rover defeated Trowbridge Town 6-0, by a score of 6-0, with Randall having scored 4 goals. was able to be in the starting line-up for the opening game of the season with Cardiff City. Randall was on the scoresheet in a tightly disputable 1-1 draw and quickly became the fan favorite. He scored another goal in his debut home match at Notts County but Rovers threw away an early 2-0 lead and draw the game 2-2. After tearing his hamstring during the second game at Fulham Randall was off for the journey to Blackpool in which Rovers were defeated 3-1. The team returned that lost 2-1 back again to Luton Town and Leyton Orient but Randall did score both of Rovers goals. He was again rested by Megson after they won their opening match in the new season with Mansfield Town on 4 October 1978. In spite of naming an unchanged team, Rovers were defeated 3-1 by Burnley that led to the arrival in the form of Bobby Gould who scored a three-goal hat- trick in the match against Blackburn Rovers on his debut. Randall who was still recovering from an injury was unable to play with Tottenham Hotspur which infamously ended with a 9-0 defeat. The team’s performance did not improve, and the team was beaten to a 5-1 loss in Sunderland Megson was forced to leave to join Portland Timbers.

When he arrived in the Victoria Ground Randall was informed by manager Alan Durban that his role in the team was to play a role in coordinating the play between the midfield and centre forward Brendan O’Callaghan. Randall was made Potters debut on December 30, 1978, in a 2-0 victory against Notts County. Three draws followed, before Randall made his debut goal with Stoke during a 3-1 victory in the match against Burnley on Turf Moor. He scored his second goal in the game against West Ham United and third against Cardiff as Stoke’s campaign for promotion took off. A series of back-to-back defeats at home threatened their chances, but they bounced back with a vengeance, to beat Fulham in both Leicester while Randall scoring both times. Then, he was up against Bristol Rovers and all his family members travelled from Glastonbury to watch Viv Busby scoring twice in a 2-0 victory. A 1-0 victory against Wrexham and a draw set Stoke up for their final game of the season, with Notts County. Stoke had to win, as the win for Sunderland would mean they were promoted. Supported by more than 14,000 in attendance at Meadow Lane Stoke won 1-0 due to a last-minute Paul Richardson header. The team then celebrated their being promoted to the First Division by flying out to Magaluf.
Bobby Campbell was appointed manager along with Gould as coach/player. The move was received with approval from Randall as well as the majority players of members of the Rovers First Team. Randall returned to the squad and scored two goals in a 2-0 win against Southampton during the FA Cup. They were drawn First Division Ipswich Town in the fifth round. After losing 2-2, They lost their replay with a 3-0 loss on Portman Road. The result means that Rovers determined to stay within their Second Division and the relegation struggle continued to the final date of their season, with the team having to travel towards Hull City and not lose. They prevailed by 1-0 and Randall scored his 22nd goals in the 1977-78 season, allowing them to stay in the second division. Before the beginning of the 1978-79 season Bristol Rovers competed in the Anglo-Scottish Cup which was a catastrophe as they lost to Cardiff by 1-0, they fell to a humiliating 6-1 loss to their bitter Rivalry Bristol City and ended the tournament with a 2-1 loss to Fulham. The team was regrouped with intention of making amends in the first league match that season, in the match against Fulham and they delivered of their promises, beating Fulham 3-1. Two more defeats at home followed and the renowned Bobby Gould decided to leave to join Hereford and Randall attempted to fill in the gap and achieved his first hat-trick of the season on October 7, 1978. He defeated Blackburn Rovers 4-1. Randall continued to be a star by scoring a hat-trick more times in a draw of 5-5 against Charlton Athletic and also had an excellent match with Stoke City in a 0-0 draw. Randall impressed Stoke Manager Alan Durban who decided to submit a PS180,000 offer for Randall that was approved by Rovers.
Randall made his return to Bristol Rovers in January 1981 with the side struggling under the management of Terry Cooper and were bottom of the table. His first match back came against local rivals Bristol City with ended in a drab 0–0 draw and his first goals back came against Bolton on 14 February. However a run of just four wins in the final 15 matches saw Rovers relegated with just 23 points. With Rovers back in the Third Division in 1981–82 there was high hopes that they would be able to mount an instant return but after a poor start Terry Cooper was replaced with Bobby Gould. Randall scored 12 goals in 41 matches as Rovers ended in a disappointing position of 15th. In the 1982–83 season, Randall rediscovered his goalscoring form with 22 goals in 46 games as Rovers finished in 7th place.
