In UFC 113, on 8 May 2010 Daley was scheduled to take on Josh Koscheck, with the winner set to be the next opponent to Georges St-Pierre for the UFC Welterweight Championship and also the chance to coach St-Pierre during the 12th year in The Ultimate Fighter.
Daley then compiled a record of 10-4-2 and was coming off of a win over UFC veteran Dave Strasser before being offered another shot at the Cage Rage British Welterweight Championship against Ross Mason. Daley won via majority decision, becoming the new Cage Rage British Welterweight Champion.
Daley fought Nick Diaz on 9 April 2011 at Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley and lost. Daley dropped Diaz twice in the first round of the scheduled five round fight. Daley then fell to the ground after a quick exchange, with the referee ending the bout three seconds from the end of the first round, marking the first time Daley has been stopped by strikes.
After his victory against Masvidal, Daley signed a multi-fight agreement to fight with Strikeforce as well as made his professional debut in a fight against Scott Smith on 4 December 2010 in Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu II. Smith was a bit aggressive as Daley hit him via an upper left hook sending Smith unconscious and face-first into the floor at 2:09 of round one. In the post-fight interview, he blasted the lightweight K.J. Noons.
