Julian got married to his fellow music producer Anne Brosh on April 16 the 16th of April, 2010. There are two of them: a sonnamed Eilan Christian Mandrake (born on the 13th of November in 2010) along with a girl, Presli Kate Mandrake (born on September 24 on the 24th of September, 2012).

After the demise Canvas, following the breakup of Canvas, Julian played guitar in the Joseph King’s group, that later became Deadbeat Darling, as well as deciding to create an entirely new music group on his own. After a series of lineup changes and name changes, Julian’s new group Mothers Anthem made their live debut on June 15th on the 15th of June, 2007. The group recorded an album titled Save The Fallen. Save The Fallen which was released in the year 2009.

Julian’s rock career began as a kid in Lubbock, Texas where he discovered his love of music as a child. He was the lead guitarist of Brother Love, working with Robert Wagner on vocals, Phil Galacia on bass and Xavier Muriel (of Buckcherry) on drums. In 1998, they released their own album, which was recorded by Dick Wagner (Alice Cooper, Lou Reed, KISS). Julian was also a lead guitarist in the Teri Timms fronted rock group Onyxx that hails from Austin, Texas as well as in the band Litzbomb. In 2002, Julian was a part of Matt Noveskey’s group A+ Machines and recorded demos for the band however he left before performing any shows in public.

Julian was a lead guitarist in the group Canvas in 1999 and until split in the year 2006. The was the same year that Julian performed guitar for Blue Octopus’s Foiled tour, playing Justin Furstenfeld’s guitar as Justin suffered an injury. His shows include Lollapalooza in August 4th, 2006 along with Jimmy Kimmel Live! on June 28, 2006. Julian was observed performing alongside Blue October during their 2006 VH1 sessions . He was also a part of Blue October’s initial shows on the continent of Europe, Mexico and Canada. The most notable performance was when Julian was a part of Blue October during their November 14th concert in 2006, as the opening act for The Rolling Stones.

In late 2010, Julian was hired as Blue October’s lead guitarist, playing on the Ugly Side: Acoustic Evening with Blue October tour in 2011, Any Man in America tour in 2011-2012 and the Quiet Mind tour in 2012. Julian played his last show with Blue October at their New Year’s Eve performance in El Paso and did pre-production with the band on their seventh studio album, SWAY, before officially parting ways in February 2013. One of the songs he co-wrote, “Hard Candy” was included on the album. He is no longer in the band Blue October, but as of 2014 is working on a new musical project.
