Pascal Lavanchy is one of the most popular and richest Figure Skater who was born on July 20, 1968 in Thonon-les-Bains, France. Pascal Lavanchy (born 20 July 1968) is a French former Ice dancer from France. Together with Sophie Moniotte, he is double World medallist (1994 silver bronze in 1995) and a two-time European medalist (1995 silver and 1997 bronze).

In the 1995-96 season Moniotte and Lavanchy were invited to participate in two events of the first Champions Series (Grand Prix) in 1995, the Skate America and 1995 Nations Cup. They pulled out due to injury. On October 19, 1995, Moniotte broke the lateral malleolus on her left ankle during practicing at the Colombes skate. While she returned to training in January of 1996 but she had not fully recovered. The duo eventually chose to pull out of their 1996 World Championships.

In the 1997–98 season, Moniotte/Lavanchy once again lost to Anissina/Peizerat at the French Championships and then slipped behind internationally, placing seventh at the 1998 European Championships in Milan, Italy. Moniotte/Lavanchy became three-time Olympians at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. They placed 11th and then retired from competition.

In 1994 and 1995, Moniotte/Lavanchy won their first NHK Trophy and their third consecutive national championship. They also won gold during the 1995 European Championships in Dortmund, Germany and bronze at the 1995 World Championships in Birmingham, England.

Moniotte/Lavanchy started international competition in the early 1980s. The year 1992 was the first time they participated in their very first Winter Olympics, finishing ninth in the event held located in Albertville, France.

Moniotte/Lavanchy returned to competition in the 1996–97 season. In October 1996, they finished second to Marina Anissina / Gwendal Peizerat at the French Championships, having placed first in the compulsory and original dances and second in the free dance. Despite the loss of their national title, they edged out Anissina/Peizerat for the bronze medal at the 1997 European Championships in Paris, France. Moniotte/Lavanchy then placed fourth at the 1997 World Championships in Lausanne, Switzerland, again finishing as the top French team.
