Ossie Ocasio is one of the most popular and richest Boxer who was born on August 12, 1955 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. Osvaldo “Ossie” Ocasio (born on 12 August 1955) is a Puerto Rican former boxer who was the winner of the world cruiserweight championship. He was nicknamed “Jaws”, his peculiar name was the result of the incident in which he accidentally bit another boxer in a fight.
In 1980, he faced the red hot undefeated contender Michael Dokes, and was lucky to just get the draw. A rematch ensued, but Ocasio unexpectedly knocked out in one round. The following year , he went in the UK and put in a sloppy performance with local prospects John L. Gardner, before collapsing but not getting injured in the 6th round.
In 1986, he made a comeback, winning two fights including a 10-round decision over former world champion Dwight Muhammad Qawi in Atlantic City. Most fans had Qawi winning all 10 rounds, and this is considered one of the worst decisions in boxing history. He attempted to regain his world championship against Evander Holyfield in Marseille, France, but lost by a knockout in 11 rounds.
He returned to the heavyweight division in 1988, defeating Pierre Coetzer in South Africa, but losing the decision in a rematch. After this fight he was relegated to trialhorse status.
The fight earned him only one title shot in the world heavyweight championship, with Larry Holmes in 1979. In his bid in his bid to be the first Hispanic to take home the world Heavyweight title, Ocasio was badly outclassed and fell to Holmes through a knockout after seven rounds.

Ocasio was a fighter for the Heavyweight division, becoming a professional in 1976 . He put together 10 wins prior to becoming a part of Don King and making a name for himself through his pointing of his King opponent Kevin Isaac.
In 1978, during one of the card’s undercards, the title bout, Ocasio was able to cause a major upset by beating the highly respected Jimmy Young, who’d outpointed George Foreman only a while ago. In a rematch Ocasio showed his strength in a second round, beating a the in-shape Young at Puerto Rico. This was his career-high in the Heavyweight division.
He later went down in weight, to fight in the then newly created division of the Cruiserweights. In 1982 he was matched with Robbie Williams in South Africa for the vacant WBA title. Ocasio became a world champion by beating Williams by a 15-round unanimous decision. He shared honors as world champion of that division with countryman Carlos De León, the WBC world champion.
