In February of 2018, Askew signed with Cape Motorsports to compete for the organization’s 2018 Pro Mazda series. Askew achieved the first Pro Mazda victory in Race 1 at Portland. He finished the season in third place at the Pro Mazda championship.

In February of 2019, Andretti confirmed Askew would compete with them in the coming championship. After winning the championship, Askew has been awarded an award of scholarship that guarantees his entry to at least three events during the 2020 IndyCar Series, including the Indianapolis 500.

Askew started karting at the age 8 in Jupiter. In the year 2016, Askew was selected as an Team USA Scholarship recipient. He was able to participate at the Formula Ford Festival and Walter Hayes Trophy. At the Walter Hayes Trophy, Askew was the winner of his heat and placed third in the finale. In the year following Askew was awarded the $200,000 prize in the prize in the 2016 Mazda Road to Indy Shootout at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to participate in the USF2000 2017 championship.
