Dalen joined Kongsvinger in the lead-up to his debut in the season 2009. Dalen prevented a penalty from being awarded and was named the man of the game by the local jury when Dalen made his debut for Kongsvinger at Nybergsund in August 2009. Dalen played three games in 2009 for Kongsvinger throughout 2009. Dalen injured his lung in March 2009 and was out for 4 weeks. The team was without a goalkeeper, and with Thomas Myhre as the only goalkeeper available for senior, Kongsvinger considered putting their goalkeeping coach, Bjorge Fedje, on the bench. Dalen was first introduced to the Tippeligaen match against Odd Grenland on 29 August 2010. Dalen was able to keep an unbeaten record in his first appearance which he repeated in the following game against Sandefjord. His first goal conceded in Tippeligaen was in the third game of his debut, after he put the ball onto Alexander Mathisen’s hands after Kongsvinger lost 2-0 to Aalesund. After playing seven league matches with Kongsvinger, Dalen punctured his lung again, which meant he was out the remainder of the season. The third choice was Tobias Holmen Johansen playing the team’s final two matches.

Dalen is a native of Gjovik and was raised within Dokka north of Gjovik in the area where the club he played for was Nordre Land. He first joined a professional team at Raufoss which he represented in four games during the First Division in the 2004 season. When he was playing with the Second Division side Ullensaker/Kisa between 2007 and 2008, he trained with Lillestrom.

The contract of Dalen with Kongsvinger ended following the 2010 season and he was able to participate in the trial team at Tromso in January 2011 on the recommendation of Frode Grodas whom Lillestrom was the goalkeeper coach at the time Dalen was working with Lillestrom. Dalen was not offered an offer to sign with Tromso and was invited to Aalesund’s preseason training camp La Manga Club. Dalen did not receive an agreement with Aalesund and instead, he joined Aalesund’s newly-promoted First Division side Randaberg, with the new trainer Thomas Pereira claiming that the signing of Dalen was worth between 10-12 points for Randaberg in 2011. Dalen played in 25 games and conceded 83 goals during the year 2011 after Randaberg was dropped to in the First Division. Prior to the start of the 2012 season the club moved him to Nybergsund. He joined Tippeligaen club Haugesund prior to the 2013 season to compete with the team’s first choice goalie Per Morten Kristiansen, and signed a two-year deal for the team.
