He is also the editor for Self-Knowledge (Oxford 1994) and the author the Self-Knowledge bibliography at Oxford Bibliographies Online. (Oxford 2010, 2010). The Proceedings of the Aristotelian Society published his 2010 Aristotelian Society Presidential Address, “Knowing What You Believe”, in 2011.
Cassam’s first publications focused mainly on Kant. These included “Transcendental Arguments and Transcendental Synthesis and Transcendental Idealism” and “Kant and Reductionism”, both published in the Philosophical Quarterly in 1987 and 1989, respectively. He has also published works on epistemic vices in recent years and created the term “vice epistemology” for philosophical studies of the nature and significance epistemic vices like closed-mindedness and overconfidence, dogmatism, and wishful thinking.

Quassim Cassam, born 31 January 1961, is a professor of philosophy at University of Warwick. He is a writer on self-knowledge and perception, epistemic vices, Kantian epistemology, and topics related to them.
From 1986 to 2004, Cassam was Professor of Philosophy at Oxford University. He was also a Fellow at Wadham College. He was the University of California Berkeley’s Visiting Associate Professor in 1993. He was the John Evans Distinguished Professorship in Moral & Intellectual Philosophy at Northwestern University, Illinois. In 2005-2006, he was Professor of Philosophy at University College London. He was also Knightbridge Professor of Philosophy at Cambridge University from 2007 to 2008. Cassam is a Warwick University Professor of Philosophy since 2009. He was awarded a Leadership Fellowship in 2016 by the Arts and Humanities Research Council of the UK. He was a President of Aristotelian Society in 2010-11 and a Mind Senior Research Fellow in 2012-13.
He is the author of six books: Self and World (Oxford, 1997), The Possibility of Knowledge (Oxford, 2007), Self-Knowledge for Humans (Oxford, 2014), Berkeley’s Puzzle: What Does Experience Teach Us? (Oxford, 2014, jointly with John Campbell), and, most recently, two books in applied epistemology: Vices of the Mind: From the Intellectual to the Political (Oxford, 2019), and Conspiracy Theories (Polity, 2019).
