She has three times been the U.S. indoor champion (2002 2003, 2002 and 2008) as well as twice Olympian (2004 as well as 2008). She also took home gold in the same class in 2002 at the U.S. Outdoor Championships.
After the first Olympics, Teter continued to achieve her goals by winning many track events across Europe and in the United States, although she struggled to recover each time with injuries. In 2006 she took a year off from running in order to undergo a hernia surgery at Atlanta, Georgia. Then, in January of 2007, she moved in Eugene, Oregon to resume training alongside her trainer Frank Gagliano, and later joined the new sponsored by Nike Oregon Track Club (OTC) Elite.
In 2008, Teter returned to the international scene by winning again the U.S. indoor championship title, and qualified for the 800 metres at the 2008 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Valencia, Spain, where she made only into the semi-final round. Teter also finished fourth in the same distance at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon, with a time of 2:01.30. However, she earned a spot on her second United States team for the Olympics, when third-place runner Kameisha Bennett did not have an A-standard of 2:00.00 or better.
A year after her breakout year, Teter qualified for the 800m women’s race in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens in Greece, after finishing second in her U.S. Olympic Trials. The fifth heat ended in third place, a mere thirty-five hundredths of an inch (0.35) in front of Spain’s Mayte Martinez. She ran the preliminary timing of 2:01.16 to qualify for the semi-finals. Teter however fell short of the final eight women, as she finished at fourth place in the first round in an average of 1:59.50.

The year 1991 was the time Teter was the winner of her first CIF California State Meet in 1991, and later she won the 800 metres during the US Junior Championships and won the silver medal at the Junior Pan American Games in the same competition. In the fall of 1991, she was enrolled and competing in track and track at the University of Arkansas, she placed second in the 800m in the 1992 Southeastern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.

She ran in the fourth heat against six other athletes, including former Olympic and world champion Maria Mutola. Having suffered from an Achilles tendon rupture (lower left leg strain), Teter pulled up a quarter of the first lap, and subsequently, did not finish the race.
