Mohsen Rastani is one of the most popular and richest Photojournalist who was born on January 6, 1958 in Khorramshahr, Khuzestan, Iran. Rastani was born in Khorramshahr on 6 January 1958. Rastani returned to Khorramshahr shortly after the Liberation of Khorramshahr during the Iran-Iraq War in 1982. Rastani was in Tehran studying for the entrance exams into the Faculty of Fine Arts when he returned to Tehran. He began photography at that time.
Rastani photographs people in black-and white on a white background. Rastani has stated that it is difficult for him to show his work in Iran because people pose in clothes they have at home. His works include the Iran-Iraq War and the Lebanese Civil War of the late 1980s. He also covered the Bosnian War of the 1990s. They were among others displayed at the MAXXI, Rome, Italy.
Rastani was among the four Iranian artists selected to represent Iran at the International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale 2011.
