Moth was diagnosed in 2007 with colon cancer. She told CNN two years later that she wished she’d gone out with more flair.

In early September 2009, she entered a hospice in Rochester, Minnesota, where she died on March 21, 2010, at the age of 59.

Moth was severely injured and shot in July 1992 while filming in Sarajevo’s Sniper Alley. Moth suffered severe injuries to her body and speech was affected. Six months later, despite her injuries, she returned work in Sarajevo, joked that she was returning to search for her missing teeth.
