M’Bami, after having spent three years at Paris Saint-Germain for three years, was transferred to Marseille where he signed a three-year contract. This renewed his partnership with Lorik Cana (who had previously signed for Marseille) in midfield.
In July 2011, M’bami and Juanito were released from Almería. Then he joined China League One club Dalian Aerbin and was loaned to Chinese Super League side Changchun Yatai immediately. M’bami returned to Dalian Aerbin in 2012. However, he could not play for Dalian Aerbin in the 2012 league season due to the foreign players restricted rule. M’bami transferred to Saudi Premier League side Al-Ittihad in July 2012.
In 2014 he moved to Colombia joining Millonarios F.C., from the capital city Bogotá. M’bami was hired to play as a defensive midfielder and signed a contract for the 2014–15 season.
M’bami was paired with Lorik Cana, a young defensive midfielder, during his first season at Paris Saint-Germain. They played an important role in Paris Saint-Germain’s success, finishing second in France’s first division and winning the French Cup. M’bami suffered an injury that made the 2004-05 season less successful. M’Bami helped Paris Saint-Germain win a second French Cup title in 2005-06, and the club placed 9th in the league.

M’bami was a young talent who made a mark on the international stage. In 2000, he won the Olympic football games in Sydney with his country. He also scored the Golden goal against Brazil in the quarter-finals. Cameroon’s 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup finals saw Cameroon reach the finals. He was also part of the 2004 African Cup of Nations Team, which finished first in their group, but failed to qualify for the semifinals. M’bami was also part of the Cameroonian national soccer team, which finished second in its qualification group behind the Cote d’Ivoire.
In the summer 2000, he joined CS Sedan Ardennes. M’bami, despite his youth, played ten matches during his first season in France’s first division. This helped his club finish fifth. M’bami quickly became a regular in the team and played 60 matches during the next two seasons. After Willie McKay stopped advanced talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers, M’Bami signed a five-year contract for Paris Saint-Germain worth EUR5 million. The club was relegated from the French second division in 2003.
He left Marseille after his contract expired in summer 2009 and has since had trials at English Premier League clubs Portsmouth, Bolton Wanderers, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic. After his contract ended with French club Marseille he moved on 30 September 2009 for a trial with the Spanish club UD Almería, later Almería completed the purchase of the midfielder, the Cameroon player signed a contract with the Spanish club.
