Michael Edward Luckovich, born January 28, 1960, is an editorial cartoonist. He has been with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution from 1989 to now. He was the Reuben winner in 2005, which is the National Cartoonists Society’s highest award for cartoonists of the year. He also received two Pulitzer Prizes.

While at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Mike Luckovich won several awards. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1995 and 2006. He was awarded the National Cartoonists Society Editorial Cartoon Award 2001. There were additional nominations for 1998, 2002 and 2002. He was awarded the 2008 National Journalism Awards for Editorial Cartooning. He was awarded the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site’s Advancing American Democracy Award in 2018.

Luckovich was born in Seattle. He attended Bishop Kelly High School, Boise, Idaho, and then transferred to Sheldon High School, Eugene, Oregon. In 1982, he graduated from the University of Washington with an education in political science. He was one of the two non-Jewish members on campus of ZBT frat while he was a student at UW. He worked as an insurance agent and sold cartoons for two years while he was still a student at UW.
Luckovich started his career at The Greenville News (South Carolina), in 1984. He then moved to The New Orleans Times-Picayune that same year. He began his career at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in 1989. This continues today. Luckovich created his comic strip “SuperZeros” in 2000. It was about two dimwitted superheroes. It was distributed by Tribune Media Service for a year.
On December 3, 2019, Luckovich posted a self drawn cartoon on twitter depicting ethnic Russians as harmful to America and ironically implying all Russians are as bad as Nazis and the KKK. This was met with harsh criticism alongside allegations of prejudice and racism online.
