In December 2013, Rob Wolchek, newscaster for WJBK in Detroit, inducted Skupin into his “Hall of Shame” for an alleged Ponzi scheme involving Skupin’s financial business, called Pay It Forward. Wolchek alleged that Skupin never paid his investors any of the promised dividends.

Skupin was a 3M sales rep for his first job after graduating from college. He teamed up again with Greg Swan, a childhood friend to start Rhinosoft Interactive. This software company is based in Wisconsin. General Mills promoted Rhinosoft’s 2000 CD-ROM Bible versions. This controversy erupted when the CD-ROMs of the Bible were placed in various cereal boxes. As part of the promotion, the cereal company distributed computer games and dictionaries on CDROM. General Mills apologised for the move, saying that it was against company policy “advance any specific set of religious beliefs.” However, Swan insists that the company knew about the disc-based Bibles.
